Since 1939, the George N. Mitchell Drilling Company continues to provide

Perseverance, responsible management, and loyal clients are the foundation of our survival from our humble beginnings in Seminole, Oklahoma to the resurgence of Horizontal and Directional Drilling in the Illinois Basin in the 21st century.
We owe our reputation as “the preferred drilling company” to our experienced engineers, geologists, rig managers, and production technicians who operate one of the finest fleets of rotary and service rigs in the Illinois Basin. With over 70 years of drilling experience, many of our employees have spent their lives with Mitchell Drilling, and their knowledge of the Basin’s geological history is ingrained in them.

Headquartered in Carmi, Illinois, we are located in White County, the largest oil-producing county in the state and in the Illinois Basin. Our proximity to major oil fields in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky is an advantage when mobilizing rigs and equipment.
